Enosburg Falls Vermont, approximately 5 miles from the Canadian border, is a small farming and logging community. Its high school is one of the newest members of the WISE family, finishing its first year. While we were there to help EFHS students prepare for their upcoming presentations we were fortunate to be part of a very emotional event.
Perry, a senior at EFHS, has struggled academically and socially throughout his schooling. This day he radiated. Perry was our mock student presenter. His job was to give an on the spot mini-presentation with only 5 minutes of preparation. He was sensational. Teachers were in tears and students were in awe when he finished. What we didn’t know at the time was that while he was in front of his peers and teachers, his grandmother was in her first round of Chemotherapy. She told him that her dream is to see him receive his high school diploma this spring and he is now more determined than ever to get that for her.
