Whether it is developing, expanding or enriching leadership skills, WISE programs offer great opportunities which are often overlooked.  Recognizing this, WISE Services has been encouraging the use of student coordinators in the schools with WISE programs.

In January, the school coordinators and student coordinators from five schools gathered in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and discussed with the WISE Services staff the importance of the student coordinator. The five high schools, Woodlands, Somers, Hendrick Hudson, Rondout Valley and Peekskill  were commissioned to help at least one other local WISE school develop its own student coordinator(s).

FIVE GREAT REASONS FOR STUDENT COORDINATORS:

• Develop leadership and organizational skills
• Assist in recruiting WISE students
• Prepare students for responsible citizenship
• Provide  another voice in the community for WISE
• Promote WISE.
